| Born in North Lawrence, NY in 1830. As a youth Parish (or Parrish as he is also known) served as an apprentice to a builder-architect. Joining the Gold Rush, he sailed around the Horn to California in 1850. He soon settled in Jackson as a manufacturer of rock crushers and quartz mills and carried on other businesses as well. During the 1850s and 1860s he was owner and operator of a toll bridge at Big Bar in Amador County. During his leisure he made many pencil drawings of the towns in the M (showing 500 of 1026 characters). |
