Born in Lancashire, England, Graham Nickson is an artist whose
paintings combine realism and abstraction and have jarringly luminous
and bold colors, intended to 'shout' as opposed to soothe. His
mediums include gouache, watercolor, acrylic and charcoal, and his
primary subjects are abstract panoramic landscapes, often with abstract
figures.
In 1972, he received a diploma from the Royal College of Art in London,
and then spent two years in Rome at the British School, havin (showing 500 of 956 characters). |
