Biography from AskART:
| The following is from the artist, 5/2003:
I was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on May 12, 1949. In 1966 our family moved to Spokane, Washington. In 1967, I graduated from University High School and continued my education at Spokane Falls Community College receiving an applied arts degree in art.
I started my career as a professional watercolorist in the fall of 1973. In the summertime, I would paint landscapes on location and painted in my studio from still life and photos through the rest of the year. I earned my living as an artist by selling my paintings in galleries or at art fairs or home shows. Periodically I would do commissions.
I taught an evening watercolor class at Spokane Falls Community College from 1976 to 1984, and I have continued to teach classes and workshops in Spokane and throughout the country. Throughout my career, I have painted in a realistic style using watercolor or egg tempera on paper. I enjoy traditional subjects--- landscape, portrait and still life.
Although painting traditional subjects in a traditional style, I do try to communicate a sense of quiet or peacefulness in the conveying of my subjects. A viewer once said that my work was contemplative. I received an award from the American Watercolor Society in 2002, attending the awards ceremony in New York City.
I continue to paint full time.
