Biography from AskART:

A painter inspired by the urban landscape of Los Angeles, Sam Michlap creates moody, generic scenes that reflect his reaction to places rather than realistically depicting the places themselves.

He has had a successful career in the California film industry including an art directorship of Dream Work's "The Road to El Dorado." In his spare time, he pursues fine art.

Artist statement: "Being able to transform the most mundane and often gritty scenes into something interesting and beautiful is what constantly drives me as an artist" ("Southwest Art,"9/2000).
