| | Born in Tacoma, WA on May 16, 1893. Marian Plummer settled with her family in San Diego in 1903. She showed artistic promise at an early age and remained a self-taught artist while working in a variety of media. As well as executing small and highly detailed paintings, she was equally skilled in batik and other crafts. In 1931 she married artist Leonard Lester and lived in the mountains near Alpine. During the Depression she did dioramas and illustrations for the WPA.
