Biography from Wallace Gallery:
| Albert Latham was born in Orient, Long Island where he lived his entire
life. He was a skilled carpenter who began painting as a
hobby. Latham probably started his art career painting with the
Elliot and Franklin Brooks (brothers), as his early style of painting
and subject matter was similar to theirs. He also occasionally painted
with Madeline Bassarear and Rachel Beebe.
He became a skilled palette knife artist, possibly learning the skill
from Caroline M. Bell. Latham often taught palette knife classes
in Orient. Among his students were Larry Waitz and several other
early members of the Tuesday Art Club. |
