| | Born in Grand Rapids, MI on May 13, 1897. Kroeze came to California as an infant and settled in Burlingame. After his art studies at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute, he began his career in the art department of the San Francisco Bulletin. During WWI he was a draftsman in an airplane factory. The remainder of his career was spent in San Francisco as an artist for the Examiner.
