| Born in Newark, NJ on March 18, 1884. Koch maintained studios in NYC and Mystic, CT after the turn of the century. After visiting California in 1914, he returned in 1917 to establish a home in the Carmel Highlands, Due to anti-German sentiment in the U.S. during WWI, for about a decade he spelled his name Kotch. He was a cofounder of the Carmel Art Ass'n in 1927 and served as director for the first two years. A highly skilled painter, his oversize (40"x50") oils include marines and lan (showing 500 of 731 characters). |
