| Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Georgia Timken Fry developed a painting
specialty of landscapes with sheep. Her parents were prosperous,
with the father being a successful entrepreneur. She
attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri, and there gained
recognition for her painting talent. She also studied at the
School of Fine Arts in St. Louis between 1887 and 1891, and that last
year, married her teacher,
