Born in Billings, Montana, Gilbert Carpenter was a painter and art
educator. He studied at Stanford University, the Chouinard Art
Institute and the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Paris, France. From
1954-60, he was an Instructor of Art at Columbia University and from
1960-64, was Chairman of the Art Department at the University of Hawaii
at Manoa.
From 1964-74, he was Chairman of the Art Department at the University
of North Carolina in Greensboro, and from 1974 to 1989, wa (showing 500 of 758 characters). |
