| Born in Montpelier, Vermont, she studied at the Art Students League
with George DeForest Brush, Kenyon Cox, James Beckwith and Gari
Melchers. She also studied and painted in Germany and Italy. Froom 1905
to 1910, she served in New York as president of the National
Association of Women Artists. She was also president of the Art
Students League and active in numerous other New York art associations.
