| | Born on May 20, 1869 in London, England. After arriving in California in 1884, Blakiston wed in San Diego in 1889 and lived there for several years. By 1900 he was living in San Francisco and an employee of the Examiner. A self-taught artist, he contributed illustrations to Overland Monthly and painted the portraits of several California governors. He died in San Francisco on March 9, 1931. In: Calif.
