Biography from AskART:
Anna Roberta Brown Balfour (Thudichum) was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on July 30, 1871. A painter, she is known for her landscape works of Northern California with emphasis on Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula. She painted in watercolors and oils.

Balfour Thudichum studied widely and was a pupil of Beatrice Irwin in London, England; Hayward in Paris, France; and R. B. Brown in Nova Scotia. By the early 1920's she was a resident of San Francisco, California. After moving to Carmel, California, in 1927, she married Carl Thudichum, and studied watercolor painting with William C. Watts, and others on the Monterey Peninsula.

A long time member of the Carmel Art Association, she participated in its early formation in the late 1920's, and early 1930's. Although she had volunteered her home as one of the Carmel Art Associations early galleries, it was turned down due to insufficient space. She was very active in the Monterey Peninsula art community. She is referred to in the Carmel Art Association archives as Roberta Balfour Thudichum.

Balfour's works have been exhibited at the Carmel Art Association Gallery, the Berkeley League of Fine Art, League of American Pen Women, The De Young Museum, among many others.

Sometime prior to her death she was married to Thomas Lazier. She died in Carmel, California on July 8, 1940.
