| Born in San Francisco, CA in 1893. Barrows was educated in the public schools of his native city and then studied painting with Armin Hansen in Monterey about 1915. He lived on the Monterey Peninsula for many years; however, most of his art career was spent in San Francisco. Barrows married artist Edith Hamlin in 1934 and divorced her in 1936. He taught at the CSFA in the early 1930s, but stopped painting in 1935 to concentrate on photography. The latter part of his life was spent in Marin (showing 500 of 771 characters). |
